Re: Low compression
With that much scoring there was obviously some significant oil deprivation. I'd inspect the crankshaft and rod very closely as well. I'd be very surprised if the crank isn't scored pretty badly from the rod bearings and the rod also isn't damaged where the wrist pin slides in.

My fingers are crossed but you are potentially correct. Definitely will be getting rid of oil injection during this project and going premix Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Low compression
I love battle pics Haha. I recently bought a 4wheeler that looked like this. It took a little digging, but alas I did eventually find the rest of the piston.

Re: Low compression
Lol yes. And unfortunately team Hknda lost that battle. But then I intervened and have been riding it around my property for a while now. Great running little bike. Then again rod, crank, all bearings, top end... motor basically brand new. The only thing I reused was the motor cases and transmission gears :)

Re: Low compression
My God, I have never seen a piston explode like that.

Re: Low compression
Lol. It's a little hobby of mine. Find them blown up, sitting for years in the bushes, whatever. Make em work and ride them or the kids ride them for a month, 2 months, 6 months.. until they get bored of em. Then back to craigslist it goes and on to the next one :) you would be surprised at some of the carnage I've seen!
And absolute YES to running premix. We have a couple little Suzuki LT80's that I refuse to get rid of. Honestly I have more fun on a little LT80 than the big bikes! Dont trust oil injection. Mostly because you have no idea the pump has failed until it's too late. |
