Does anybody know anyone in the Chino / Ontario area of Southern California who works on Club Cars. I recently purchased one and I seem to be having electrical issues. I have no clue where to start. Honestly depending on who you talk to, everybody says something different. I would just like to have it gone through and tell me what I need so i can take it from there. Any help will be appreciated.

First off, welcome to the forum. You have certainly come to the right place!

If you are going to take it somewhere, I would find an authorized CC dealer. They know these carts in and out.

But, you may be able to fix it yourself if you tell us your problem. Does the cart currently run?

Thank you very much and yes it runs, however it seems to die very quickly for my liking. I am not kidding when I say It starts off great but seems to lose charge in 4-5 minutes.

Ok, that simply sounds like old batteries. Do you know how old they are?
It is probably time to replace them...

After reading some of these posts, I now know how to check the "born on date" for the batteries. So I am going to check them tonight when I get home. Negative terminal. I know that they are trojans. As for anything else, my original thought was to test all of the batteries, both voltage and hydrometer testing. And replace however many batteries didn't test accurately. Then also replace all of the battery connectors. But when I got to thinking about it, I started to realize that I may be doing all of this work for nothing. If I just keep going down the list and it ends up being the motor, etc... then I would have wasted a ton of money to figure that out.

If the cart runs fine and charges fine, all your other things (motor, cables, etc) are fine. If it's just losing power quickly, that's your battery pack.
You are definitely on the right track as far as testing them.
One thing I must tell you is DO NOT replace just a couple. Replace the entire pack at one time. The new batteries will actually kill the older ones rather quickly.

Ok so my next question is this... So I check the batteries as far as what voltage they are reading after a charge. Since I have 6 x 8 volt batteries, if one is bad I should replace all 6?? I just want to make sure that I understand this correctly?

What type of cart do you have? Precedent or DS?
Also, if you could give the serial number, that would help. It is located under the dash and above the go pedal on a sticker.

You should do a load test on the batteries after fully charging them. Just hook your voltmeter to the entire pack, then take a drive. I bet the voltage goes down quickly.

If you decide to replace your batts, yes you will get six new 8v batteries. If your cart is a 48v.

Typically, a well maintained set of batts will last 4-6 years.

To be honest I don't know much about it so Precedent or DS is is kind of foreign to me. I posted a picture in my avitar but not sure if that helps or not.

Ok, I just saw the pic. You have a DS IQ model. That's a nice looking cart...

IQ models are programmable with 4 different speed codes. Codes 1-3 are free to have programmed at a dealer, and code 4 generally costs $100 to have programmed at a dealer. Once you get new batts, you should do a speed test with a GPS to see how fast you're going. Code 4 is around 19.6 mph.

Now if your cart has been upgraded to a bigger controller, the programming stuff doesn't apply.
