81 EZGO Marathon Steering Question
In the process of disassembly of the 1981 EZGO Marathon project cart and have some questions about the steering components.
Pics 1 & 2 - aside from the rubber boot needing replaced is that joint supposed to be in that position when the wheels are straight? Pics 3 & 4 - is the the bar that is almost touching the inside passenger tire supposed to be like that? It is part of the steering mechanism. Pic 5 - I am assuming this is the tie rod. Is it supposed to have that slit in the end where the end screws into it? It is like that on both sides. |

Re: 81 EZGO Marathon Steering Question
1 and 2 - Yes, that is a rotating ball joint that swivels and pivots as the steering is cycled side to side.
3 and 4 - Yes, as long as it's not rubbing you are ok. 5 - Yes, that slot is for the threaded sleeve to compress onto the tie rod after adjustment. |
