Default Installing a 32hp 992cc Generator Engine

New to the forum and buggies gone wild scene. I'm a generator dealer and we often have v twin engines laying around. I currently have an engine that I would like to put into a golf cart. It is powered off of propane, but my question is the clutch. These engines have a tapered shaft with no key, is it possible to find a clutch that will work? I was also wondering what kind of cart is the easiest to do the engine swap in, do I need to buy a cart that already has a gas engine or is it just as easy to convert an electric cart.

Thanks for the help

Welcome Tripp! Do a search in this "big block" section. There should be many posts about clutches for tapered cranks. Definatly want a gas donor car. I'm not an expert, but sounds like Club Car (with passangerside secondary clutch) could have more issues. Cartpartsplus (Tom) is a great resource for knowledge and parts, MikesMotorToy's is also, don't forget all the members in the big block section , we've all have been where your at. Good luck Dave

To my knowledge there is not a clutch made for a generator taper, and the stub is usually too short to turn down. New cranks are 200.00, may be worth it if you are going to overhaul anyway. Besides that, you will want a gas cart with drivers side secondary, mounting plate, 4" minimum lift, primary clutch (that are hard to find right now), wiring harness, belt, lots of time and money. Look into a kit from some of the sponsors, I think you will be ahead.
