Default 1996 club car problems

hello

i have purchased a 1996 club car i bought it without t having a forward and revers swith so i bought a new beefed up switch and i replaced the electric motor, because i was gonna take it off and check it but bolts broke so i replaced it,anyways i have converted it to four 12 volt commerical grade batteries pos to neg but i still dont get nothing when i hit the gas.any ides please help
