Default 82 ezgo have to push start it

My ezgo died on me. I was moving it around the yard and went to put it away and had to back up and it wouldn't move. it just started making a clicking noise so i replaced the solenoid and it still makes a clicking sound when i press the gas. i put a new battery in it and it wont move. my buddy pushed it with his quad and i had the gas pressed down and it took off with a push from the quad. what would be the problem here, for it to take off with a good push but not be able to take off on it's own?

If you changed the solenoid and you hear a click then it points to the starter. Measure between the battery negative and the A1 terminal on the starter. If you get 12 volts when pressing the throttle then you have a starter problem. It is probably worn brushes. You can pry off the rubber caps undo the phillips head screws and carefully extract the brushes. If they are down to the springs you have found the problem.
Good Luck
