Battery Watering System Question
I just bought a used 2009 EZ GO RXV that came with a factory battery watering system. Well, it came with all the stuff on the cart, but not the $130 special nozzle to fill it with. While I was debating the wisdom of paying that much for a nozzle, it occurred to me that would have me putting tap water in my batteries. I always thought it was distilled water or you would greatly shorten the life of your batteries. Has anyone tried something shady like a big funnel with 3 or 4 feet of hose held up to generate a little pressure, and just pouring distilled water into it? Any idea how much pressure is required to force the water through the system?

Re: Battery Watering System Question
Best bet would be to remove the system and fill them normally. Much better control on the levels.

Re: Battery Watering System Question
We run into this problem all of the time... remove the valve on the end of the hose (the main hose that you are supposed to connect the special bottle to). It generally has a plastic ring that over the hose where it is connected to the valve which must be slid down (towards the batteries). Once that ring is slid down the hose will pull off the valve... the first time it can be pretty stiff. Once off, stick a funnel down in the hose and fill the batteries. When you are done filling replace the hose back on the valve to prevent leakage. We generally do not reinstall the plastic lock ring. Once you have done this a few times it will start popping apart pretty easy. We just store the funnel under the seat with a little string attached.
Have fun... JasonsGolfCarts.com |

Re: Battery Watering System Question
I have 2 RXV's and I just pop the tops off and top off the cells as the low water indicator starts to drop. I thought the same thing about the hose fitting but I was raised to only use distilled water. It only takes a few minutes a month to maintain all 8 batteries and I like the fluid indicators on the top of the stock plugs.
