Default First timer...What have I gotten myself into?

Ok
I admitting that I may not know whay Im doing
My kids wanted to build a gocart, neighbor suggested his36v 1991 ez go. No charger, flat tire. Neighbor said batteries were good.
Well when I opened the batteries, fluid was low... three bateries took 1gal distilled water.... still wont charge up completely
Just came up with a charger... and guess what... wrong one
Now for my questions
1) can batteries be refurbished? (heard a rumor)
2) can a powerwise qe 36v charger be rewired or cart plug replaced to make the two work?

In my opinion 1. NO , You probably need batteries
2. Yes . 36 volts is 36 volts

Thanks Wrong Way
Thats what I thought about the batteries
The plug on the charger wont fit the older cart... which would be more cost effective
Change receptacle on cart or plug on charger?
Was told charger had a tab for a saftey feature to make cart undrivable while charging... is this something I should be concerned with?
