Need help on a rear differential for a G9

Me too but they just replaced it with this one and the problem stayed the same. Thats why they are saying the end of the shaft

Had a few drinks, but looks to me like the outer sheave is loose or woodreff key is missing? If it were me, I would remove the belt and push the car forward to see if the shaft was bent.

Take it back apart and find out if the shaft is bent (hold a screw driver against the end of the shaft while pushing the car forward.

Look to see if the sheaves look chafed or is the belt chafed or shredded. Definitely in the sheave area! Might try a new belt.

The problem is the word "they". You need to know what "they" did or didn't do! Not pounding on ya, but I lost a whole one ton truck, cause I had the tranny rebuilt, and it came back with a vibration, and "they" decided not to do anything about it!!

Man, the poor thing is just about jumping up and down off the ground!!

Going back and rereading, if the shaft isn't bent, you need a new outer sheave, but not from them!

Well you were close. Looks like the slot the woodruff key goes in was all messed up allowing the key to not seat and then I guess they just punded the new sheave on there and it never seated all the way. I actually broke the threaded end of the input shaft off removing the nut. Then the outter sheave just fell off. No puller needed. LOL

Luckilly I bought another differential from a guy on here. Just had to order a woodruff key today to replace this one.

Oh Man! What did this little episode cost ya? Don't ya just want to go back to that shop and do something!! Take it in for a $100.00 job, and it costs you $500. because of their incompetence!! Ya know, if their under 35, I just take it back home, these days! People have no finesse today, its just slam/bam!! ok its fixed!!

Im on a rant now, Sorry, but these stupid motorcycle shows and hotrod building shows on TV today. They make it sound like they have deadlines and such nonsence, such pressure, Like that's what the owner wants. I want a car that is just thrown together, parts welded on in the wrong place, or the wrong parts alltogether, etc etc!! People come to these shops cause they want perfection, not mistakes!! Consequently, that's what these young fools think hotrodding is today! Stacy David is the only guy I will watch these days! Sorry for messing up your thread Trace, hope you get it running soon! And congrats again on that award!!

I am disgusted with these people for sure.

I bought the differential from a guy here for 200 shipped. Hopefully it works good. Waiting on the Woodruff key to put the pulleys on.

I have to agree with Mike Mac, and I used a 3lb to beat mine off and didn't damage anything lol. But have done that stuff for decades too. Should be able to sell some parts off your old rear though. I have two engines sitting there I want to rebuild and sell to pay for the clones.

Well it still needs sanded and polished. Have not decided if I am powdercoating or leaving polished.
