295cc top end rebuild
I have my engine out of my 1997 TXT 295cc, and want to do new rings. Should I do pistons also? I found this set of pistons and ring on eBay and wondering if the look legit to you guys. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-EZGO-295cc...item3f16f683ca
Can i reuse the gaskets if they stay in tact? |

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
I just did this too mine but I ordered OEM ezgo parts through site sponser
I replaced both pistons and reused connecting rods I would ordered the gasket kit because you will need new crank case gasket and the small o-ring on crank case do not forget this one!!! Or you will have a big oil leak! I did not use all the gaskets but you don't know the condition of o-rings and etc until you get it apart |

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
Are these gaskets you are referring to needed if I only take the head and cylinder off?

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
Looking at this engine and it looks like there is no separate cylinder that can come off. Do I need to crack open the crank case?!? This would suck!

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
in order to remove pistons yes you will need to open the fan side of case! Because it the only way to get at the piston rods for removal but its not that bad this was my first time..haha and once you get going there's not much to the engine I down load the rebuild manual and read it over then dug in!

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
the big 30m nut is normal thread I used a air impact and came right of but I removed 6 10m nuts holding fan then used puller I was afraid of breaking the plastic.
as for gaskets I replace crank case gasket and small o-ring that is behind crankcase gasket on top by oiler head gasket o-ring for oil pump crank seals that's about all the oil except oil filter if you were close by I would give you a hand as crazy as it sounds I had a fun doing it |

Re: 295cc top end rebuild
once you get it apart you will know for sure
I just figured while its apart change them but my crank seals might have been ok but the cc gasket and small o-ring for sure keep in mind this was my first one. I ordered gasket kit because I had same questions as you so I went for all of them to have piece of mind ...haha |
