re: 97 CarrryAll 2 coil/ignitor issues
So it was the second bolt, had to take the tire off to see the last one, but now to cover wont come off, muffler, oil filter are in the way, my guess is the bolts for the muffler will snap off if i go that route. If its an hr for the tech its bloody worth it.

Yeah... I'll take a guess that Golf cart guy was thinking of an ignitor on a 92 to 96...
THAT is a quick, simple fix.. coils on 97+ carts however aren't! |

re: 97 CarrryAll 2 coil/ignitor issues
The carb came off as did the muffler (could have done with just the muffler) oh that designer was looking for a beating, lets use the same size socket except for just one.
I though about drilling that hole to get to the back bolt but it might just stay loose. Is there a spacing im looking for on the coil? or just lift it until the wheel spins or as high as it goes? |

0.012" air gap between the coil, and the magnet on the flywheel.
I've read where some people use a matchbook cover as a gauge, but haven't done it myself. |

re: 97 CarrryAll 2 coil/ignitor issues
First thanks for the help, much appreciated.
Its all back and working better then ever. Some info in-case someone runs into the same issue. My cart was hard to start needed lots of choke or staring fluid when cold, then it started to die, it still turned over but not start, let it sit a few hours and it would stop and go 50 to 100ft at a time until it just wouldn't start. Left it at the mechanic for almost 2 weeks they couldn't find the issue. I noticed it would die more often on lumpy ground. So bought a coil and started this thread ;) take the muffler off 13 and 15mm and then jack it up to take the rear driver wheel off. Take off the smaller vented cover 3-4 Philips screws Take note (picture) of the rubber grommet for the wire from the coil loosen the top 2 bolts (10mm) from the main cover take off the other bolts clock wise ( 1 on the side 2 on the bottom) the cover should start to move, i had to wiggle it off the last bolt on the back the cover is a snug fit, to get off bring it out to lift the top up and in, then swing the bottom out and reverse this to get it back in once off i did a light sanding of the fly wheel and rinsed with contact cleaner unbolt the coil take the 4 pieces of the wire and move it to the new coil (placement of the grommet is important) bolt it back on loosely and space the gap .012" before tightening. put all back together test drive it for a few more decades |
