Default 2009 YDRE new batteries, new controller still won't move

I have a 2009 Yamaha YDRE. Last year I put new batteries in it and it was running fine. Occasionally it would stutter when I pressed the gas pedal. Eventually and somewhat suddenly, it would no longer move at all. I would press the gas, I could hear the solenoid click, I think I hear the motor hum, but nothing happens. So... I thought maybe the controller was bad. Purchased a new one from Partzilla and installed it, but still the cart won't move. I don't have a volt meter, but if necessary, I could buy one. Suggested next steps? The golf cart shop I purchased it from several years ago is no longer in business. I'm not even sure where I could get it fix if I can't figure it out myself. Thanks for any help.

You 100% need a volt meter, So purchase that.

Could be the engine.
You need to check the batteries as well, new or not.

But for all the diagnostics, you’ll need a volt meter and people will help guide you.

I would also call don at plowmans.

New info- I tried pushing the cart with the pedal down and it started to run on its own. It ran slowly and somewhat jerkily for about 20 feet. Then I thought maybe changing the controller fixed the problem and now I'm just low on battery power. So, I fully charged the batteries and tried again, but the cart would not go, even when I gave it a push start. Does this new info shed any more light on my problem? I ordered a volt meter, but it won't be here until Friday. Thanks for any help.

-Get the motor rebuilt at the local starter/alternator/generator rebuild shop.

Or

-Buy a different motor that's compatible with your stock controller.

I wouldn't bother repairing the junk stock Hitachi motor. I'd call site sponsor Don Plowman at Plowman's Cart's and discuss motor options with him

Update: Pulled the motor and took it to a repair shop. Lots of carbon, blew it out, true and undercut commutator. $195. Reinstalled and it runs!!!

Not sure what I can do with the controller. I purchased and installed the new one, but apparently that wasn't the issue. Ideas???

Thanks for everyone's help!
