91 EZ GO has burst of power for 10 seconds then slows to a crawl
Hello all new guy here
91 ez go JO491 has new batteries, not like any of the wiring diagrams I have seen on Stickys. This cart has a differant kind of solinoid and accelerator switch than I have seen on this site...could someone show me the proper wiring diagram. My problem is it has lots of power for a few seconds then rapidly runs out of power. After turning the switch off and setting the f-n-r to N for about an hour or so it has power again for a few seconds. How do I check controls/switches to see if they are performing properly. Need picture diagram so I know the names of various controls and switches and thier functions |

How do I know what kind of system I have? My cart has I think a "solinoid" that has a diod on top of it ...not the one with the common looking solinoid like you would see on an old starter in a car

The small "limit switch" located on the f-n-r that has a white and black wire to it has power to both black and white terminals (although is reverse polarity) constantly no matter if it is in F,N or R could this switch be defective?

Re: 91 EZ GO has burst of power for 10 seconds then slows to a crawl
I know you have new batteries, what is the pack voltage before you start and after it slows down? Needs to be at least 38.4v (full charge), if it is less than this you may have a bad battery, new doesn't always mean trouble free. If it only runs for a short time, the voltage should still be the same (38.4v).
Once you have established that it's not the batteries, then you can troubleshoot. |

Based on your answer, it sounds like your checking voltage with an analog meter and in order to properly diagnose these you really should be using a digital meter. A cheapie, available from Harbor Freight is around $5.00 and goes on sale regularly for $2.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=90899
The difference between a fully charged 6v battery (6.40v) and a 50% discharged one (5.98v) is less than 1/2 of a volt. My guess, from the age of your cart is that is probably the resistor type but the wiring diagrams you are looking for are located here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html |
