How many volts should cart put out

Hi i have an ezgo gas cart and wondering how many volts should it be putting out while it is running. I placed my meter on the pos. and neg. of the battery and it is registering 14.6 volts while engine is running is that in the normal range?

That seems good. I think 13-16 is average. Dont hold m eto that though lol

Lol ok thanks. I just got the starter generator back i took it out after doing some checking with my meter and was only getting 11.3 volts. The shop told me it was good so i put it back in but made sure i cleaned all the connections real good and rechecked and now have 14.6 volts at least i'm saving money there lol. Its just been a headache trying to get parts for it because no one has ever heard of a GXT 804

That perfect on charge.

Something is telling me that you may have a bad voltage regulator. Just keep an eye on it. Drive the cart for a few to make sure everything gets real hot and than check output. I have seen the regulators quit when they get hot.

Ok i'll remember to check it then but it will be awhile before its on the road i have alot to do to it. The cart has been sitting under a tree for 2 years at my father in laws. He parked it then because the battery was going dead. I brought it home put a battery in it. It fired up right away then i started checking voltage thats when i was getting the reading of 11.3 volts. So i am hoping it was just a bad battery that was in it along with dirty connections.

Lol that horn was one of the first things that came off of it. Besides it didn't work anyways lol

I've got two gxt-804's... They are tough as nails and that flip up bed makes it easy to work on. They have the sme engine as the marathon and txt so your parts for the engine should work, just depends if you have the 295 or the 350. Nice cart!

So far i don't need any engines parts its everything else that has been a bit tough figuring out what it's from lol. It has the 350 in it. Just kinda strange that they used the marathon body on it being that it is a 97. I took the bed off of it but now i will have to figure out what to do for a rear seat and to fill in the body around it.
