Default Cart won't start

2012 Yamaha Gas. For past couple of weeks, sometimes when I press gas pedal, I hear a strange, for lack of a better description, wheezing noise for 2-3 seconds, and then cart will take off.

Today, tried to take off and nothing, no wheeze or any noise. Let set for 15 min., went back and took off normally, not even the strange noise.

Any ideas, bad solenoid maybe.

Thanks to all.

Start with the basics. Check the battery, don't guess, check it.

...and belt tension. See if the starter generator belt is loose enough to slip.

X2 on this. A lot of times the starter is spinning but not spinning the belt with it.

Yes, and when the belts get old they are hard and do not grip, you have to run them really tight to work well. I put a new cogged belt on mine a few years back and got rid of that problem. Was a gboost I think.

If you hold the pedal on the belt will often get hot and grip and it starts.
