Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
I got my XCT500IQ installed today. No more throttle problems, smooth as silk. Many thanks to Will at Alltrax who went the extra mile and probably went out of his way to make this happen. No more complaints about Alltrax from me. Attached is a picture of the install. You can do a neater install without that pesty OBC in the way. Reason enough to get a DPI charger. Tomorrow on to getting rid of the regen braking.

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
Dialing down the regen is an easy setup change with Alltrax. I happen to like Regen though so I have mine enabled but not set to aggressively.

I have the regen set aggressive. Love that de accelleration pouring amps back into the pack. The dog is caught by surprise now and then

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
Only down side to Regen that I can think of is that it puts more heat stress on the motor. It is nice to pump some charge back into the batteries instead of dissipating it as heat in the brakes. I have learned to regulate it by how I ease off the pedal when I want to slow down.

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
I drove it this weekend and decided I might keep mild regen.

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
So I guess my question is...what help was needed and would any of us run into similar problems that would require the same level of help?

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
My answer would be: It's not for the faint of heart. It will take a little knowledge of electricity. ScottyB has a rating system for upgrades on his website. I suggest you check it out.

Re: Alltrax XCT500IQ Upgrade
Here are the speed improvements I got with the XCT500. First to start with a little bit of history. All of these figures are from the same hill. In the beginning with the Plum Quick and stock controller I got 13 MPH up the hill. With the DCX500 and AMD 7144 Motor I got 18-19 MPH. With the XCT500 and the 7144 I get 24-25MPH up the hill. On flat land I was getting 27MPH before I let off the throttle fearing I was going to get a ticket. The attached picture shows how it feels to drive it. It's just a slight exaggeration.
