Default Club Car Z-bracket lift, Strongest ???

I have been reading up on the different types of lifts for Club Car (DS style frame on a CarryAll) and am confused. I was told by the dealer to stay away from ANY type of spindle lift (steering problems, strength, ride quality, etc.) and told that I should use a Z-bracket frame cut style lift as it preserves the original steering geometry and stock parts on the front end. I know , it will not increase ground clearance, but that is limited by the rear diff anyways, so all things being equal you guys have any input?

I see a lot of praise for Jakes kits here, but he doesn't make one for my
"LSV" carryall cart. I am pretty mechanically inclined but wanted to get tips.
This thing will be carrying about a half ton of weight on average , and I need a strong lift.

It may just be me but I think that cutting the frame would be taking away from the factory quality???? I have been using the A-arm lifts and the spindle lifts for ever and never had a problem with the steering!! Thats just my .02!

If it is a DS based car, then many lift kits are available. What makes the difference? Front brakes?

I have had factory install "Z" lifts but I have never cut a frame to install one... prolly never will but that's just me..... What are you going to use the cart for? 1000 pounds is more than the cart is rated for? What size and kind of tires and wheels are you looking to run? ETC........

I agree, 1000lbs is too much regardless of brand of lift, even a stock cart is not designed for it.

I have been TOLD that it is a DS based front suspension, but not 100% sure on that. It does have front brakes though (hydraulic). Jakes doesn't make lift spindles for it yet due to the brakes, I asked them a while back.

Club car has not produced a hydraulic braking system since I Dunno 1982!? the Ds model started about that time so please post some cart and brake pics cuz we are confused on this one Maybe they are cable operated brakes?

well i cut the chassis on mine,at this time i dont have the extra cash for the other lifts.i also moved the front end forward about 3 inches so if i decided to run some 25 inch tall tires i could with no rubbing.the rear end has been moved back about 2 inches...so far i have had no trouble or anything working lose.
i know alot of people want like it done like this but i am doing a budget build.

This is an 09 Carryall 6 Low Speed Vehicle (LSV)
The GVWR is actually more than 1000lbs (1250) with a bed
capacity of 850 lbs.
4-wheel hydraulic brakes; front disc, rear drum
according to the spec page

http://www.clubcar.com/commercialbus...ryall6LSV.aspx

I am going to load it down pretty good with a water tank to water
trees on the back of my acreage, and I weigh 270lbs myself.
The only reason I want to lift it is to get some better ground clearance,
it is a pretty long vehicle.
The kit the dealer is recommending is made by M and M and is a z bracket
type, they are trying to scare me away from a spindle lift, and since there
might not be one available anyways, the z might be my only option.
Jakes did tell me they MIGHT be working on one next year.

I am wanting to run 22 inch tires, really only want the minimum amt of lift to clear them.
I would like to have the wheels a bit wider (more offset) to keep it from rolling over, and turf tires will be used.

Not trying to scare you away from the Z lift, its not a bad lift. I have seen many carts in my days with that lift and never seen nor heard of any problems. I wouldnt put it on a regular cart, but in your case like you said that may be your only option.
