Yamaha gas cart Id
Newbie here trying to learn to post and ID my cart so I can start trouble shooting. Serial number under seat reads: JN6-118869 and engine family tag is: VYM-301U1G2RB The only other number I found is JN3-K7768-00 I hope someone can help me as my "bitter-half" is enjoying me being stumped and my grandkids buggin me about riding them for the past few weeks. It was running with the erratic stopping engine but now it don't want to stop unless I disconnect the spark plug. Pulling the plug makes my eyes flash and my fingers tingle all the way to my elbow.

Re: Yamaha gas cart Id
Thanks for the quick reply, now I know what I've got. I've checked the carb, hoses and gas tank on the fuel supply end thinking it was a fuel supply problem that caused the engine to quit. Now I'm more convinced than ever it is electrical in nature. I couldn't find any loose or bad connections that would let it stop running. Now the big new issue of it not turning off is driving me nuts. Does the switch ground the spark to the plug to kill the engine? I used to think I was a mechanic (cars) but now I realize I know nuttin' about carts.

Re: Yamaha gas cart Id
check voltage and clean battery cables , CHeck fuse and solenoid behind black box by the battery. Also there is a little ground wire going down beside battery on negative side check and make sure it is plugged in the middle of wire ,make sure it is connected.

Re: Yamaha gas cart Id
Thanks, I'll check out those things in a couple of days. I'm at my son's house. The battery showed 12.8 volts (it's fairly new) when I checked it last week.
