Lack of torque, I think
I went to an off road park and took my cart to ride around and watch the events. The cart rode fine on the hard surfaces, but when I tried to cross a bit of mud about two inches deep it just stopped. We pushed it out back onto the hard stuff and it ran fine again. I think this is due to a lack of torque from the stock motor and larger tires. Correct?

Yes, and the stock controller and the back seat. What mods have you done and what drive system do you have? How big are the tires?
