Post New to golf carts

Help please. I just bought a 1984 Jack Nickalus edition Club Car. I am new to golf carts. The cart takes off really slow then goes pretty good. Even after 20mins of warm up it still takes off slow. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

If the engine seems to run good you may have a worn drive belt.

Is that just the belt then that would need replacing? Hopefully a quick fix then. This engine stuff is kinda new to me.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

Are you saying the motor starts fine and revs up and it slowly takes off or the motor has trouble starting and reving up?
I'm just asking because of the comment about the 20 min warm up.

Hello,
When you press the gas peddle down the golf cart won't immediately go. If you hold the peddle down for about a minute, then the golf cart will go. But when it does start to go, it is really doggy and slow for the first few seconds then it will accelerate as it should. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Yep, see if it helps to push the choke, If it does you should pull the carb, take it apart and give all the parts and carb body a good two hour soak in the "gunk" brand carb cleaner.
It comes in a gallon can with little basket in it from your local Auto parts store.
If you have never done a carb before don't worry, we can walk you through it step by step, piece of cake.
While you are at it you should replace the air filter, fuel filter, spark plug and check the bottom of the gas tank for trash, oil change.
This will give you a fresh starting point.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions you have.

Welcome to BGW!

I'm about to tackle my first golf cart carb rebuild, I'll let you know how it goes by monday. Think it should be easier than the DCOE webers on my car.

Hi crash12888,
Thank you for the suggestions. I'll start doing all the things that you recommended. Do you have a diagram on where the carburator is located? But in the mean time, I'll be doing all the other things on the cart. Thank you again.

Mark, I'm no beater of "around the bush" so I mean absolutly no disrespect but I need to to ask, do you know what a carburator looks like? any mechanical or small engine experience?
I'm not being critical but sometimes with even a little mechanical background we tend to give Readers Digest versions of repairs and skip what should be general knowledge.
Quite possible you might consider picking up a service manual for your cart and doing some throne reading.
Very informative with detailed pictures and procedures.

Anyway, the carb is mounted on the engine cylinder head.
Find the airfilter assy and follow the big rubber hose, it is connected to the carb.
