Default '96 Carryall 2 Project

My dad bought me this golf cart about 6 years ago to screw around with on our property. Over the past 6 years, he made it his, and it shows. We put a nice 4 inch lift on it, but the tires are small donuts with aggressive tread and leaky.

It hits the rev limiter at very slow speeds and as soon as the solenoids are activated, the throttle is wide open. It doesn't seem to shift into high gear.

We have some club car maintenance books and I spent two hours today adjusting the throttle rod and adjustment for the governor cable on the governor box, what a pain. I am going to work on it some more tomorrow, adjusting the governor cable and arm and how much it opens the carborator. In my youth, I was dumb and didn't understand how the governor worked so I zip-tied the spring that attaches to the governor lever in an attempt to make it go faster...it just made it hit the rev limiter quicker.

He has also taken apart the carb and cleaned it out a few times, but it backfires. I will adjust the carb to spec tomorrow. Hopefully it will start working correctly again soon!

Basically, the pedal is halfway to the floor by the time the solenoids are activated, and by that time the carb is at WOT. I need to adjust the accelerator pedal as well so the pedal only travels a bit before the solenoids are activated.

This site is useful. I am quite active on BMW, Corvette, and Duramax forums, and this is a very good resource for do it yourself-ers. One thing I wish there were on here is more pictures of repairs.

After screwing around with it a bit this afternoon I need some parts. The accelerator rod from the pedal to the governer box does not adjust and is seized, so I need a new one of those.

I temporarily remedied the WOT problem by doing Lockman1's idle setup, but I soon realized the carborator would not return to idle properly, it was just a tad too much open, any information on how to adjust the cable running from the governor arm to the carb would be awesome.. It also is spewing out white smoke out of the exhaust at an alarming rate.

I have my clubcar maintenance book but it does not show how to properly adjust the carborator screws. It sputters a lot as well. It does not bounce off the rev limiter now since I can properly modulate the throttle.

The brakes are entirely seized. Removed the brake shoes, they were fine, cables are fine, but the actuator is completely rusted and won't move. Beat on it with a crow bar and sledge hammer, nothing, even tried to remove it but the **** nuts won't move either, ended up stripping one nut out. Needs new brake cluster.

I cannot figure out how to remove the rear hub either, any help would be appreciated. Didn't see a retainer.

I checked the oil on it, I was alarmed to find that there was none. Pulled the plug, nothing. I went and poured some in there (10W-30 Mobil 1), turned the engine over a few times, and what happened when I checked the dip stick was that a bunch of dirty oil had pushed its way in there and it appeared to be overfilled with oil now. Maybe the reason why its smoking?

Where can I get an oil filter for it?

Tomorrow I am going to work on the carborator some more, cleaning it out would probably help and I am going to adjust the rear unitary so the belt will stop slipping (too much slack).

This cart has 2300 hours on it...and it shows.
