2012 yamaha drive needs more torque.
My yamaha drive has a max speed via gps of 29.2 mph.
Plenty fast enough since I just drive it in a campground. I would gladly sacrifice some speed for more torque. I heard that you can get some code from yamaha to make it faster but is there a code to make it have more torque ? Thanks !! |

Re: 2012 yamaha drive needs more torque.
Do you have big tires/lift kit? If so, you need smaller tires. If not, You need to get rid of the high speed gears to get your torque back. No yamaha drive electric does 29 mph with stock gears and street tires, unless motor and controller work has been done (not likely, because then you would not have a torque problem). Your only other options are expensive motor & controller work.

Heck a gas cart will barely do that with the full plowmans kit with oversized tires and governor bypass. He had to have meant 19 mph

It has 215/50/12.
The torque is not bad I just would like to trade some of that speed for torque. Yes I did say 29.2 mph. I have a pic of the gps but I can't figure out how post a pic. |

I bought it from someone. I will ask him what he did.
In the mean time what can I look for that's obvious ? Look at motor, controller etc. |

Re: 2012 yamaha drive needs more torque.
You are seriously hauling the mail at 29mph on electric..check your controllers, motor, batteries at what kind of configuration you have.

I have it out at my campground . I will not see it until Friday.
I will shoot a video of it from a dead start. |
