That's just someone trying to squeeze more speed out of an old cart, but stressing the old-style drive components to the max (eg. failure not far off). As it stands, given the age (1987) & crap batteries, its probably worth a couple hundred bucks. If it comes with a good quality 48v charger, maybe $300. Cartsunlimited website (just above your note) will give you an idea of the conversion to 48v cost.

If you could get for less than $500, it might be worth it. $300 without a charger. Does it run?

Okay if you tore this apart and parted it out what would you get. Rear seat $100. Wheels and tires $150. S6V motor $100. Body parts $100.

I think anything under $750 works just for the value of parting it out at clearance prices. After that, it appears to be a lifted cart with good rubber. A great project cart for you.
