Re: Rescuing a marathon
Looking good Golferdan. My '73 Marathon keeps calling out to me to be rescued as I walk past. Too many projects as it is. It's just gonna have to wait in line.

Re: Rescuing a marathon
I retired about a year ago so It's easier now to make time. Well, that is in between the 5 day golf week!

Granger, very nice! Question for you. Where did you find the body trim I guess it would be called. Granted I haven't looked hard, but haven't seen any around. Nice work again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Rescuing a marathon
Really nice Granger. I thought about the lift kit and wheels but decided since it was going to be a work horse I shouldn't spend the dollars. Now you have me reconsidering that decision. Tj, I thought I saw some rubber fender trim somewhere online. Can't remember where. I'll keep thinking about it. I ended up priming and painting mine. It turned out ok, I guess, but it is marred up some. The trouble with this hobby is there is no good stopping point for spending!

Re: Rescuing a marathon
Granger, I noticed you have a TXT seat back on the front seat. Did you have to modify it to fit?

Re: Rescuing a marathon
I'm no expert but to my knowledge the rear fender molding for the 89 and up marathon is no longer available, I tried ordering from some sites that showed inventory but was later credited due to no longer available . I ended up using the pre 89 Marathon mud guards which aren't long enough so I centered them and added pieces of body molding on both ends, the body molding is available but is rather pricey.
The TXT seat back won't fit the stock seat back bracket but since my rear seat came with replacement seatback brackets I was able to screw the seatback to it easily. |

Re: Rescuing a marathon
Nice paint choice golferdan
With your marathon looking that good you have to put on a cool set of rims and tires. You could just get a big set of mower style tires to put on the stock rims. That’s what I did until I found a great deal on my 23"s and rims. |

Re: Rescuing a marathon
Wow, mower tires on the stock rims....didn't know that was an option. I'll have to look into it. Seaquell, do you have any pics that show your cart with the mower tires on?
Understand, Granger, knew it was to good to be true! |
