Default 1993 Marathon Is it the Batteries or a component

After charging overnight, replacing cable( 2 awg ) and cleaning corrosion from batteries. I had 38.65vdc across the batteries. After a very short drive up a very short incline it was down to 36.29vdc. It struggled up the little hill. Batteries are about 5-6 years old. I'm leaning batteries. What do you think?

I think your right- after 6 years even the best batteries will be weakening significantly under load.
