Question Need Powerwise charger help. (johnnieb)

My 36 volt Powerwise charger quit. Replaced the board and cap and now it comes on normally but only charges about 45 minutes on Ezgo cart with batteries at 70% charge according to voltage/% charge chart. Restart charging and will go for about 15 minutes and cut off again.
Hooked the charger to another 36 volt cart and with the batteries at about 70% it charged for about 2 hours before cut off.
Any ideas appreciated as to experience with this condition.

If the batteries are 6V-225AH and discharged to 70% SoC, they lack about 68AH being fully charged and the PW will only put out about 20A, so the absolute minimum charge time will be 3.4 hours. However, the output amps of a PW 28115 charger start tapering off once the on-charge voltage climbs above about 40V, so the actual charge time will be in the 6hr to 8hr range.

In other words, the charge time with both carts is shorter than expected.

Could be the control board is shutting the charger off prematurely or it could be both carts have excessive resistance in the charging loop.

The charging loop inside the cart consists of the black (-) and white (+) 8Ga or 10Ga wires from the charge receptacle to the main positive and negative terminals on the battery pack, possibly a 60A fuse on one of those two wires and the five high current cables that connect the six 6V batteries in series.

To verify the control board is shutting off at the correct voltage, attach a voltmeter between the red (+) and black (-) wires on the control board. The voltage should climb into the 44V to 46V range before charger shuts off.
