Painting Cart Roof
I know there are alot of threads out there where people have commented on the best way to paint the roof of their cart. I have a CC Precedent with a beige roof and want to paint it black. I would like to do so using rattle cans since I don't have any spray equiptment, but would like input from others that have done it before.
So I guess my questions are: What is the best stuff to use? How many coats did it take and how long did it take to set? Do you have any tips/tricks if you were to go back and do it again? Thanks to all that look, and especially those that reply! |

Re: Painting Cart Roof
Herculiner roll on bed liner worked for me. Looked OK & was tough as nails. It's all in the prep work..... gotta sand it (rough it up) & clean it really well.
Duplicolor makes a spray on bed liner too. |

Re: Painting Cart Roof
Krylon Fusion worked very well on mine. Easy to touch up if it gets scratched up too.

Re: Painting Cart Roof
I painted a tan roof black with krylon fusion and i thought it looked cheap. I roughed it up and used several coats and it still chipped and scratched easily. I wouldn't do it again.

Re: Painting Cart Roof
I used bumper paint in a can. You can get it for about 3 bucks a can and it looks good. I put 2 coats on after I scuffed it up and wiped it down. It took about 5 or 6 cans. It has been pretty durable also. Figure can touch it up every couple of years but I think it was one of the best things I ever done. Matter of fact a buddy of mine who sales carts and builds them uses the bumper paint on all the carts he does. Hope this helps.

Re: Painting Cart Roof
Fusion didn't work good for me. If I aerosol one I use Sem plastic paint. It is available at most Auto body paint supply stores and Oreillys. Sprays and touchs up easy.

Re: Painting Cart Roof
what did you guys use to scuff the tops up? It seems as though the plastic bumper paint is the favorite, I think thats what I might try. How scuffed up does the top need to be before painting?
Thanks |

Re: Painting Cart Roof
I just took a sanding block I had laying around that I had used when doing sheetrock work around the house. Lightly sanded over the entire roof and the wiped it down.

Re: Painting Cart Roof
I used a damp rag. Just let it dry good before you paint.
