how do it get the "most torque" from my stock 48v DS?
Hey Everyone! Im a newbie but I have been reading around here a lot to edjumicate myself (haha)..
Im building a 99 DS 48v into a hunting buggie.. My question is how do I get the MOST out of my stock "48v DS series" set up. I will be adding a long travel suspension, 22 to 23 in tires.. looking for torque mostly..I live in Florida, its wet, muddy and NO HILLS! Batteries seem decent but the cables are thin, I was thinking new cables for sure, but not sure on anything else. Can this cart be programmed to be more torquey? Any other advise? I will post the build up as it goes. Thanks! Last edited by archerdude22; 10-15-2012 at 10:01 AM.. Reason: wrong photo |

What type of budget are you looking at? I would do cables first. You will notice a difference with just those. Then I would do a motor and controller combo focused on torque. It will be a little costly but make a huge improvement. I have a speed motor in mine but with a 500amp controller I can spin the tires and do donuts in grass. I would recommend talking to Plum Quick, one of the supporting vendors. They will get you exactly what you need

Increase the amount of amperage the motor is allowed to access. Amperage = torque in DC drives. Along with a bigger controller you will need a bigger solenoid and larger cables throughout and a HD F&R if the cart is a series cart, you didn't say?

keep in mind when you do cables you have to do all 6 gage cables over to 4 or bigger...if you do just battery cables its a waste of time and money....................you should really talk with scotty if anyone can help you its him and he also makes just about the best cables out there..........................
