97 ezgo rebuild
Just bought a 97 ezgo. Complete tear down. Installed rear springs and Jakes 6 inch spindle lift. Batteries are dead. Wondering if I should convert to 48 volt and what I can do to get more speed and torque without replacing motor. I know wires, solenoid f and r switch need to be replaced. Does controller need to be replaced. It has Curtis controller. I hunt in hill country so cart is definitely needed to do some climbing.

Re: 97 ezgo rebuild
Since you lifted the cart, I suspect you have or will install tires taller than stock (18"), so you'll need to replace the stock (275A) controller to offset the torque loss due to the oversized tires whether you up the pack voltage or not.
A 400A, 500A or 600A aftermarket controller such as the Alltrax AXE or SPM type will allow you to run at 36V, 42V or 48V. This is a fairly decent overview of what to take into consideration when re-purposing a golf cart for something other than golf. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html |

Re: 97 ezgo rebuild
CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |
