G1 Primary Clutch Weights
As I was getting ready to clean up my primary to reinstall I checked the weights. These things seem to rock around on the pin and wobble a little. Is this normal. I can't find any wear specs in the manual.

Re: G1 Primary Clutch Weights
Thats the way two of mine are. One of them was broken completely off of the pin. I took it apart, and the other two don't look like they are worn. I think they just have to be able to move slightly. The pins are way smaller diameter than the holes through the weight links. There is a bushing that goes through the middle, but I think it would still be able to move around on the pin. I'm hoping someone will know for sure, because I was kinda wondering too.

Go into the Yamaha web site and you can download an exploited view of the clutch.

Re: G1 Primary Clutch Weights
I think it's normal. I have had a few of them apart and they all had that little bit of play in them. Clutches have always functioned good.

Re: G1 Primary Clutch Weights
I think you will find they have allot of wear. Mine has worn to the point that the side thrust washers on one side of each weight are gone, the pins are tapered and the hole in the weights are quite worn. The wear is such the the weights have worn into the alloy casting as well.

Re: G1 Primary Clutch Weights
Yeah, mine are beyond a little wobble. I found new weights, pins, washers and o-rings for $108. One final inspection in the morning and I think I'll order. I see no reason to replace the clutch at $275+. Wait til the Cash Nazi hears this, she will not be happy............................................. ..............again!

Mine truly needs that as well but I need to get it running with the Bravo engine first.

You top the $2k mark yet? Gotta be close.... Even so, you're cart will be "brand new", and new carts are like what $6k?
Yeah, it's always somethin.....maybe I should look at my clutch parts.... Where did you get your parts, that sounds reasonable? |
