G1 Herky Jerky starts
Hey everyone, new to the golf cart scene but have recently rescued a 84 G1. It was ROUGH but I have put in the hours and made it pretty slick for now. I use it at the race track and am very happy with how it runs, actually plan to turn down the governor as it is just too quick for all the kids (and a mishap with girlfriend being thrown off).
To my question, during take off in either direction the cart is very jerky at first, and kinda makes some pop and cracking noises. It runs great and I have given it a good tune-up including a new belt, however I was able to slide the belt on without any trouble. I am not sure if this is my area of concern or how much adjustability I have in the belt area. can I tighten the belt? Is there a clutch adjustments that I can look too? Is the hurky jurkys normal for this modle? Thanks for any info. |

No adjustment on belt it should slide on fairly easy old g1 are notorious for jerky starts the drive clutch just needs cleaned up on the inside and and use a dry lithium lube on the inside

There's a cable on the drivers side at the top of the motor plate. Make sure it is there holding the motor plate from being pulled to rear end.

Show us a picture of your clutch"s. Some changed to a comet clutch. Maybe just a good cleaning and greasing of the primary clutch is in your future.

Re: G1 Herky Jerky starts
service both clutches. check the plastic pads on the secondary to see how worn they are. both have bushing that need lubed and can wear.
