Question EZGO DCS Alltrax XCT 48400 upgrade not running

So i bought a late 90s EZGO DCS 36v. It's in decent shape and I read up here about some upgrades and decided to go with an Alltrax XCT 400 to start with. I'm familiar with DC, I fly and build drones, know my way around a multimeter, though this cart world is certainly new to me.

The upgrade from the stock controller was pretty strightforward but the HD solenoid we got was different than what the photos showed. We followed the schematics and I'm pretty sure we wired everything up correctly. When we turn the key ignition the solenoid clicks but the cart won't move. When we (my son and I) switch it to reverse the controller seems to shut off then reboot when it gets over to Reverse. Not sure if that is normal.

We plugged the USB in and the controller sees when we press the throttle down (no throttle reads as 70% and full throttle reads as 100%). Though the controller LED doesn't flash yellow when full throttle is reached. Still the wheels don't move. Before our upgrade the motor worked like a champ. I get that everything works until it doesn't but I'm thinking its still fine. The computer shows negative amperage to the motor regardless of the throttle position.

To make matters more "what!?" while checking the contections we bumped something by the small terminals and the wheels started moving, and quick. YES we had the rear wheels elevated! We stoppped, re-did any connections that seemed questionable. Made sure that on the solenoid the heavy amperage ring connectors went first, then the diode and lesser cables.

I'm at a loss to what we missed. I'm thinking that either the solenoid is bad or this (more likely) is user error. I'm not sure how to proceed here.

Thanks all for your time and sharing any wisdom on how to proceed.

Fred

Why is no throttle reading 70%? That is not correct. No throttle should read 0%! The Alltrax app will tell all if you look at everything.
