Question Where is the 12v converter on my 2008 ezgo rxv?

Hi everyone. I’m new to this site and this is my very first thread creation, so sorry if this doesn’t post correctly and TIA for any help you can provide.

I have a 2008 ezgo rxv 48v cart with a Madjax lights, horn and blinker kit installed. I bought the cart earlier this year with all these accessories installed. I’m trying to add a 12v undercarriage lighting kit, but I can’t find the 12v converter. I’m assuming this Cart already has one because it has lights and everything. Am I wrong? I’ve attached photos of the battery compartment for reference.

I guess my question is…where is this 12v converter that should be powering the accessories?

Ryan

It looks like the lights are wired direct to the middle battery making them 12 volts. Chances are you dont have a converter on your cart seeing as the lights are wired direct. Also, if you use your lights alot, that center battery will go bad long before the rest. Id get a converter on it before adding any more accessories, or you can just run to another battery but this will greatly decrease the life of your batteries.

I agree, better go with a converter and save lifetime of your batteries.

Do you have a recommendation for converter? I want everything to turn off when I turn the key to off. Do I need a converter with 4 or 5 wires?

A 20amp, better 30amp converter ( 5 wire ) provided by the solenoid would be fine. I'm using a 4 wire converter, 12v pos switched by a relay.

Check out ScottyB's website cartsunlimited.net he has one that's pretty popular and has a trigger wire (when wired to your key switch) so it only works when the ignition is on.

only problem with underglows is you have to wire them to constant 12 volt output of the converter. If you wire it switched 12V, the lights will come on every time you turn your key on. If you wire it constant then you can use the remote (if it has one) to turn them on and off.

They won’t be on whenever the key is on if you also wire them through an on/off switch.

true, if you want to add a switch you can also do that, but that just seems like an extra step unless you dont have a remote but either way works.

OP don't monkey with the key switch on a RXV, it can get expensive quick. My converter is wired to the solenoid so accessories go off with the key.
