Default 89 marathon motor dead?

I have an old ezgo Marathon that's been running good till now. Change the solenoid a couple months back and thought it might have been that again. Put a new one and nothing. Bypassed as much as possible and just making sure I'm not forgetting something. I put a jumper cable straight from battery positive to the A1 side of the motor and nothing. I'm pretty sure A2 is reverse. I'm looking for and excuse to get a new better motor. Thanks

You are wrong about how the motor is tested! You need to disconnect all four wires and Jumper S1 to A1. Then apply only one battery voltage to A2 and S2. Motor should run. (Wheels off the ground when you do this!) Search for how to test a SERIES motor.

Electric vehicles don't have a "Ground" Connect Battery Positive (one battery) to A2 and the Battery Negative to S2. Motor should run slowly on one battery. Remember that you have to first connect A1 to S1 with a jumper cable.
