88 marathon
I got a 88 marathon today and need some info. It is a 2 stroke and between the gas tank and fuel pump is a canister, it is not a filter because the filter is between the pump and carb. does anyone know what its for and is it even supposed to be there? Is it maybe a regulator?

Re: 88 marathon
I have a '92 Marathon, 2 stroke, and I have a big gas filter between the tank and fuel pump and a tiny gas filter in line between the fuel pump and the carb.
The parts list also shows it this way. The '88 and '92 are essentially the same machines but the '88 has some distinct differences and unique parts, so I am told. Clem. |

Re: 88 marathon
You should have a main filter before the pump and a secondary filter after the pump. Both should have a direction of flow arrow on them. The canister, as you call it, sounds like someone has used a generic filter, as mine are both clear plastic.

Re: 88 marathon
Well it was probably clear when it was new. It is yellow now. The only thing it has wrote on it is Israel, I guess thats where it was made. I am going to get the correct one for it. Does it matter where you put the main filter, mine sits just above the pump, but I have seen pics of them sitting on top of the gas tank.

Re: 88 marathon
On my '87, it is just above the pump. I don't see how there would be room above the tank.
