Default Alternator/ generator mount?

I got my 16 HP Vanguard and cradle. I have gone back and fourth about how to start it. Like a car or like the existing cart. If I go with the alternator generator original way how do you mount the generator? It was bolted on the old motor (G-9). Do I fab up a separate bracket or try to weld it on the motor? (Dont like that idea much) Any pics from you guys who have crossed this path?
Any opinions about which way to go? I can see plusses and minuses to both but would like to hear from the experianced guys which is better and why.

Are you keeping the clutch with a pulley?
If so there appear to be threaded holes that
would hold a bracket for the starter generator.

I'm a bit hesitant to say this here, only because I'm still in the process & haven't proven anything yet.
But I'm installing a clone in my Marathon & have kept the stock generator/starter and clutch with pulley on it. The base of the generator/starter is actually bolted to the EZGo swingarm & only a stand off was bolted to the engine (to keep the belt tight). I've relocated that stand off & the generator/starter "should" work like it does on a stock cart.
I'll see about getting a picture of it later tonite.

Yes it will work, but why haul the extra weight and wiring? My Dad did a Marathon also(see pics in my album)We made a motor-plate,welded it to the stock motor-cradle,and bolted it in.If your clone is from a mower or other equiptment and has the charging-coil,it will run anything that you will need on the cart.We do run small car-batteries in all our carts,so i can't say how it will work with a lawn/garden size unit, but if you have no more than a few lites it will be fine.

One of the reasons I like the Vtwin setup with the starter tucked
is it simplified the whole engine powerplant issue..

It is/was a hassle pulling a motor from one of my carts, because of the mounting system and the stupid starter that has to come off separate..
I can pull my V twin all the way out and have it running on the bench in
five minutes.
When I am done, all I do is set in back in the cradle and I am set.

Can't do that with a Robin. You have to build a mount for it, to test it, so the
starter has a place to go.
AND it has to stay attached..!! and generating.
If I want , I can jump my briggs and it will run without the battery attached.

plus space is an issue in an EZ GO and a 23..

Guys thanks a lot! I think the engine with its equipped starter seems to be the better idea after listening to you guys. I am sure a hundred more questions like that will be forthcoming! I sound like a broken record but you guys on this site are the best! Knowledgeable, polite and PATIENT with us newbies!!! Brought a few personal watercrafts back from the graveyard over the years for my son and his friends. They also have sites like these to help out. Many are filled with arrogant a-holes who think more of themselves than helping out backyard mechanics who are building stuff for our families and friends at a cheap price! CUDOS BGW!!!!!!
