Default need battery cable source

Can anyone tell me where I can get a decent price on battery cables and cable parts? Besides ebay.

I need some 4 gauge wires, but i need about 10 of them that are 12" long and some that are 14".

All the stuff I have found, is in sets, that will not work for me.

I would also like to be able to make my own, if I can find a parts source.

Thanks

Every auto parts store in my vicinity carries battery cable, crimp, clamp and solder lugs and wire cutters, and heat shrink tubing. That's generally where I go when I need something.

You can also get welding cable by the foot and the lugs at places like Rural King supply. Tractor Supply Co. might also carry it. I would think that most any store that sells welders and supplies would also have the cable and lugs.

Did you crimp the terminals or solder them? I am thinking about making myself a set and there seems to be differing opinions on which way is better.

Crimping works, but I doubt anyone would deny that silver solder and heavy heat shrink is the best way to do it.

Thanks guys. I will try and seek out a welding supply, out here in the desert.

I was "scolded" once for using home depot wire. I was told the strand count was not enough, and would not be the way to go for carts.

Also i see pre made battery cables at auto supplies and walmart etc, but again, was told those were ok for cars but not for the high amps for golf carts.

Soldering is good if you know how to do it correctly. For the rest there is the crimp, which also needs to be done correctly.
