Default 84 EZGO Rear End Seal??

I'm having a blast restoring an 84 ezgo. I've learned quite a bit by being a lurker before recently joining the group. Now, it's my turn.

I noticed the rear end seems to have been leaking for some time (prior to my ownership). I've only had it for a short time. With the rear end out, I noticed the fluid dripping from behind the driven clutch. I removed the clutch. The seal looks worn. It looks similar to a crankshaft seal. (Dana rear end)

I've looked through catalogs of my usual suppliers and have not found any such seals. Do they exist?

Buck

I should mention that there is no governor on this cart. I will look up which rear end is inside the housing the next opportunity I get.

Its a Spicer S12,If you carefully pop the seal out,you should see a number on either the inside or outside,it may even be on the rubber-lip.Any seal/bearing supplier or Grainger should have the seal.Hope this helps.

hey buck, how was it for you to get the clutch off....did you use a puller (homemade or one of the overpriced ones? lol)

I will probably be doing this to my 85 soon so i'm just looking for some advice in advance

NOPE as stated remove bolt and it should slide off. If not with it jacked up you may have to slightly persuade it with a piece of 2X2 12" long on the back side and tap it off.

Thank you. My apologies for being away. I was camping this weekend. I will look up the bumper off the seal. It pulled fairly easily lays night. (The rear end is now cleaned, sanded, and primed with the the pumpkin painted. Axles a second color next).

The driven clutch was easy. Slid right off after I unbolted it. The retainer clip broke as I unbolted it. It let the spring loose as well. Be careful as you unbolt this. Make sure your retainer clip is in good condition.

I replaced my driven clutch seal with this seal from buggies unlimited. I did it 1 1/2 ago and it does not leak.
