Default Help with wiring a digital volt meter

I just got my digital volt meter. My question is how do I hook it up. I was going to hook it up to the key switch but where on the key switch do I connect it? The I am guessing the black wire has to be run to the battery itself? Do I need to buy extra wire?

Scroll down to the bottom of this link:

There are some wiring diagrams depending on your type of cart.

OK, looked at the installation page. It looks like I need to connect the negative wire directly to the battery and also the positive if I want the most accurate reading. My questions is, what type of extra wire do I need to purchase/use to connect the meter to the battery?

Any 14-16 gauge stranded wire would be sufficient to connect that.

Do you recommend running both wires to the batteries directly? Will the meter turn off when I turn the cart off?

The meter should give readings very close to actual pack voltage with an in-dash 'remote' connection.
Use a handheld voltmeter to find a switched lead from the key-switch to have the meter turn on and off.

I would recommend running the + off a Key activated source and run the - directly to the battery. This way the meter is only on when the key is on.

A switched lead is a terminal that turns off and on with the switch right? What setting do I need to put my handheld volt meter on to know if its a switched lead?
I saw on your install instructions that connecting it to the key switch will cause a .5volt discrepancy. That ok?

The .5 volt discrepancy will vary by cart and wiring - It should say up to .5 volt
Generally, it's okay to be a half volt off when deciding when to recharge. If you want to know how far off it is just check the pack with a good handheld meter and compare. This difference should be consistent - so you can rely on it.

Generally, it's okay to be a half volt off when deciding when to recharge. If you want to know how far off it is just check the pack with a good handheld meter and compare. This difference is due to the resistance in the wires and connectors and the switch itself, it should be consistent - so you can rely on it.
