Default Will leaving the charger plugged in drain the battery?

Older Huyndai with a manual charger. I will leave the charger plugged into the cart but because the charger is manual I will have it on an external timer to turn it off (unplug it).

When I plug the charger into the cart I hear the charger "click" even before I can plug the charger into the wall. I understand the click is because the charger recognizes the cart's voltage and closes the relay to allow the current to flow and charge.
If the charger sends a trickle of current to the charger at all times to make the charger recognize it, will the charger drain the battery if it is left plugged in?
