Default backfiring

i adjusted my valves and changed the oil and now I get a little pop when you take your foot off the gas to come to a stop. Just wondering if there is anything that can be done to fix that or did I do something wrong on the valve adjustment? Thanks for the help guys.

I forgot to mention that I adjusted the governor to get some speed out of it too.

You need to adjust the butterfly on the carb.... When you adjusted the governor, it probably moved it as well not letting it close all the way when you let off the accelerator. Adjust your linkage a little where it is on the stop with the pedal all the way up.

you can try is to take the screw out of the carb that doesnt allow the throttle to close all the way on the carb. if this screw is in to far it will cause the problem you discribed and it is not needed for this type of cart. it is an idle screw and these cars dont idle at a stop they only run when pedal is depressed.

there are two lines that attach to the carb....one is for the choke and the other is for the throttle. when you press on the accel pedal the throttle line will pull and you will be able to see the butterfly on top of the carb pulled pulled. when it goes back when you let off the accel the butterfly will close up against a small screw. this is the screw that is not neccessary for this cart, you can remove it.
