Default 91 gas engine hesitation??

i got a 91 gas marathon. when i step on the throttle, it always seems to take 3-6 seconds for the engine to even start to turn over. Its like theres a pause before anything happens. Could it be a bad connection of some sort?

I think that you have either a bad solenoid or a bad connection. Put your meter across the two small terminals on the solenoid and with the key on the throttle depressed (and the back off the ground) you should see 12 volts. If you do not you have a connection issue. If you do then connect your voltmeter negative to the - battery and positive to any BIG solenoid terminal. If you see 12 volts then go to the other terminal which will be zero, now depress the throttle (key on) If you do not see 12 volts you have a defective solenoid.
