Re: yamaha g2 rpm gauge
and with all that being said because g2 does have rev limiter could I bypass the governor and go straight to the carb and not have to worry about over reving because of limiter??

Re: yamaha g2 rpm gauge
Yes, I did with a G9 and no limiter. All I did was not floor it down fast hills, I never let it rev more than it could do on flat ground by itself. Did that for 12 years until it started to smoke but it ran ok unless it was hot out, and then it got hot, and then it got funny acting. But the clone I replaced it with is a whole new world, I was pulling the front tires off the ground last time I rode it. Only 6" but more to come maybe after I work on the clutches more.
You can gps it once and with a tach then you know your speed more or less. I figure mine ran about 5K rpm stock. |

Re: yamaha g2 rpm gauge
5k rpm huh more than I was thinking I could get with the throttle cable mod I think it would be awesome to have a tach that is operational and not hard to see I bet your cart is a blast with that motor setup I was very impressed with mine after the Kevlar belt cut sheeve and umax spring and my motor is pretty much stock altho I have been think about boring my carb jet and putting a uni filter on

Re: yamaha g2 rpm gauge
The G9 has no limiter, but I doubt it will rev much more than G2 anyway. You can figure it out if you have a gps, then put the speed into a calculator with your tire size and about 11:1 ratio for the CVT and trans. I did 30 on pavement with 22s (that measured 23 with 15psi). And the primary might not have shifted out all the way it has a groove at the top. I filed it down now.
