rear clutch;?
was going through everything on a g16, thanks for the reply's on what to set the valves at. .004,,,,,, was wondering about 2 things, first, after adj. the valves, I still have a noticeable ticking, more at idle than cruse, is this normal? I have a john deer, and merc, boat motor, both have overhead, and are quiet, could they be hydraulics? also, on the rear clutch, the 3 plastic rubbers, does anyone rub a little grease on them, or will it matter. buy the way greasing the rear clutch made a real dif. in operation, I think it was dry.

Re: rear clutch;?
They leave them dry or they collect dirt and it tears them up. You can put silicone lube on them but not sure it would stay long. Best to just replace them if they wear and try to polish the ramps some.
Make sure the ticking is actually the engine I had the gen bolt loose under it and it sounds like valve noise. I have to weld the tube under there then see how it sounds. I can hold the gen at idle and it stops doing it. |
