Dismantle advice

Hi all, had the yammy bit over a year now but engine is getting tired, have another motor to install but would appreciate any advice as to the removal of body panels,where to start, what to watch out for etc, want to check chassis and replace any parts that are corroded, note only use cart to get me around golf course so not going the whole 9 yards with mods (well not at this stage anyway, but looking at some of the mods on here is giving me ideas)

Might help if we know what cart you have.

Most yami you want to check the frame under the battery. Check all wiring especially ground cables/wires as all grounds are wired on yamahas. Body comes off my G9 really easily.

Yep, sorry about that, cart is 1994 G9A.

Just me, but I'd remove all body parts, do a thorough cleaning job. Then, start a total maintinance program through the whole car. From wheel bearings, king pin bushings, steering box grease and jamb screw adjustment, tie rod check, bent S brackets, lube peddle assembly and cables, rusted out battery box, swing arm bushings, shock bushings, then, making sure all elect wire and cable ends are clean and tight!! Oh, forgot clutch maint!!

Good info, have already replaced front w/bearings and kingpins, next will be the major job, removal of panels and motor replacement, also will be overhauling clutch and brakes, think I will be busy for a while.

Jam, the body comes off easier than you think!! Enjoy the build!!

If your doing new brake shoes, "ONLY GENUINE YAMAHA SHOES"!! The brand X shoes, are hard, and don't stop!!

Here is my beast, had for just over a year now and is used 2-3 times a week and has been very reliable with minimal running cost but now it is burning oil and becoming sluggish so time for a make over. Only problem now is telling the wife that her car will have to stay out in the weather while the rebuild is carried out,(think I will have to play deaf).
