KF82 engine swap to FE290
I am in the process of replacing the KF82 engine that threw a rod in my 1991 DS with a 1996 FE290 I have confirmed engine rotation. I need the complete air intake system and am not sure how to make the throttle work as the carb is in a different spot altogether. Has anyone done it here and know where I can get get the used parts to make to conversion work?

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
I'm not sure what all you need but would be very interested to see a thread where we can follow your progress. Had a few guys talk about doing this but none I know of have actually done it.

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
So far all I have done is replace the rings in the FE290 and disassembled and cleaned up the primary clutch. Getting the throttle to work is going to be a challenge.

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
I worked on one a couple years ago. Guy had bought a '91 with a blown up KF82, swapped in an early (CCW) FE290 but also had trouble with the throttle set up. I used the FE290 cables and fabricated brackets to hold them (throttle & governor). Sorry I didn't think to take pictures, but I just replicated the way the stock cables set up for a '92- '96 FE290 would run - governor and all.

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
I'm currently looking at a 1992 club car that someone swapped in a fe290. Drive pulley dont line up. Is that why you need to redrill plate? I haven't seen this cart in person yet, just pic. New to the cart world

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
92 was the first year for the FE290, running counter clockwise through the 96 model year. If it really is a 92, it should have been the original type engine.

Re: KF82 engine swap to FE290
As stated earlier, a 1992 would already have the FE290 OHV motor in it. Wouldn't be considered a swap.

Do you still have your blown up motor? Where do you live at? I would be interested in your motor
