I've got that one covered! My bike lock key and golf cart ignition key goes on my truck key ring and this one would too. If I lose that ring when I'm out, I can't ride the cart, my truck or my bikes! So I'm real careful with it.

I really don’t think I’d be worried about anyone stealing the battery there. Most people wouldn’t even think about it and the hoodlums that would be of concern aren’t gonna pop up the seat and mess with trying to steal the battery. They’d take the whole cart and figure out the rest later.

Plus most people expect to see 500lbs of batteries under the seat and not at all likely to screw with trying to unbolt and steal them all.

IMO seat locks open yourself up for more damage to the cart. The seat is only as strong as the plywood under your butt. Wouldn’t take much to yank up by the handle and pull the screws out of the hinges in the front. Especially if the seat is older and half soggy anyway like most already are

I still maintain my stance that if security is a concern, an ATV alarm isn’t very expensive (around $50 for a viper alarm) and comes with both a tilt sensor that would go off if someone sits in something like a golf cart, and provisions for a closed loop circuit you could use to trigger the alarm if someone lifts the seat. The best deterrent in a parking lot or some place like that is flashing lights and a siren making a bunch of noise. Especially if you mount the siren above the wheel well pointing under the seat, it will be blasting high pitch siren noises in their face as they’re trying to do anything under the seat but if it’s behind the plate where the controller and OBC Mount, they wouldn’t be able to access it to rip it out. At least not easily. And if they’re that determined they’re taking the cart anyway…
I agree, this place is about as safe as can be. I do trailer to state parks in GA and FL and often park and hike. Anyway, I thought about connecting a push button, push to open, switch under the seat. I was going to connect it to the horn, but probably an alarm would do better.

Regardless, I really want to also lock the seat, for the added benefit that I won't need to strap the seat down when I trailer the cart backwards as I do.

I will come up with something simple and unique and appreciate all of the ideas you guys have given me. When I come up with something, I'll probably hear you all say "what a great idea".

Or not........

Hook it to a tool box key lock to open it instead of the choke cable

Yes, I think this is doable. Then I can shut off the tow/run before I lock the seat. I'll be working on this!

I finally came up with a solution that I really like. I wanted to be able to lock the seat and still give me quick access to my accessory switches. I also wanted to be able to leave it unlocked when I don't need to secure it.

Here are some photos of the process I used:

It starts with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GPF6898...roduct_details

I used a 3" x 3" 10 ga. steel plate for the seat connection. I happened to have it here but if I were to do it again, I would just use some 1-1/2" flat stock bent at a 60 degree angle. This mounts to the aluminum seat frame and then the hasp bolts to this.
The earlier photos show the hasp pop riveted to the angle, but I wanted something more secure and installed the bolts later.

Here are some more: (The locking mechanism is mounted to the seat back support.)

As I said, this turned out better than I expected. It is easy to access, fairly unnoticeable, and keeps the seat locked down very tight. I know a determined thief can just break the locking mechanism off with a hammer, but at that point nothing would have stopped him.

A side benefit of this is I can turn off the run/tow switch which will prevent someone from jumping out the ignition switch. Even though my ignition switch is not golf cart parts, a phillips screwdriver will let some one jump it out by opening the dash. This will definitely slow them down.

Here are some final photos:
