Default What is this plug?

I have a 2009 electric club car that has aftermarket lights installed. Today I noticed a little four post plug underneath the dash, just under the pull out style light switch. What is it? If it’s power, can I hook up some accessory lighting to it

That’s the self destruct connector. If you put a paper clip in there, it transforms your golf cart into a Chevy volt and then promptly, as Chevy volts do, sets itself on fire.

It was probably a plug for some controller for something, winch, lights, PA speaker… who knows. But it looks pretty crusty and non-functional. I’d just take it out and chuck it in the f*** it bucket.

You're funny tonight, CP241!

I believe that's the plugin for the handheld Club Car Display Module (IQDM) used by the factory/dealer to diagnoses problems and/or change settings.

If your cart is not a CC, it probably still serves the same purpose. I'm not sure I'd rip it out just yet.

I'm guessing your cart is a Precedent? As CCNorth suggested, that should be the port to plug in the scanner / programmer. It's not good that it's crusty, but may still function if & when it's needed. Ideally the plastic cap should keep the worst of the contamination out.

My old Precedent had the same plug. I was told that it was for the same thing as CCNorth said.

That’s the programming port for the Curtis IQ controller.
Assuming it still has the original controller that is where the IQDM scanner would plug in to make changes to the controller settings.
Despite the crustiness, that will still work just fine. They all get that way.

Hey-quit scaring me! Had to run out and check on my cart (still sitting there patiently waiting for me to take it out for a ride)!

I stand corrected, maybe don’t chuck it. Looks like an afterthought stuck through the panel like that, but I’ve never had a precedent. All my DS’s the programming port just dangles under the seat.

I maintain the self destruct function, however.

Stop teasing Semi! You should have told him it was a connector to hook a leash so he could take his cat for a ride on his cart.

Great idea! Take my cat for a ride behind my cart
