Re: Did the governor mod, and now bad stuff.
You got to understand what you are reading, No one said anything about a shaft falling off! Slow down a take a sip of water
The throttle cable hooks to the throttle shaft, the throttle shaft runs vertical through the carb body, the throttle plate is screwed to the throttle shaft in the throat of the carb. Remove the air filter assy/hose and look in the hole of the carb to see if a dirty brass looking round plate (little smaller than a quarter in size) is on a dirty brass looking vertical shaft. |

Re: Did the governor mod, and now bad stuff.
Crash said pull the intake hoses and look in the carb, the butter fly plate(throtle plate) is screwed to the throttle shaft and it is common for it to come loose and fall off. It then gets sucked in and isn,t in Kansas anymore. That would explain why its always wide open. A good point crash, its rare but happens.

Re: Did the governor mod, and now bad stuff.
hey now, cut the poor guy some slack. he's tired and temporarilly lost it. he said that he was sorry. my cart has had its moments too. i made the mistake of defeating my govenor, and took the ground off of the rev limiter. everything was ok when i used the cart....it just didn't hold up under the heavy foot and deaf ear of my teen son. i actually don't think that you really get much out of fooling with the rev limiter and gov. if you want go faster swap the engine and gears. or just fool with the rev limiter and gov, then swap the engine when you blow it up. really, you would be better off to sell your stock motor before you smoke it, and use the $ to buy a big block.

Well kevdrew, I try and respond to any question asked and that is
like 10-12 a day or more. Others with more experiance answer 20-30 a day. Slack is someone not reading the posts or asking for clarification. I can't type and peck out the help I can and sometime breaf it. |

Re: Did the governor mod, and now bad stuff.
..Ok, the throttle plate is still intact, but check this out. After doing the idle mod and watching the linkage while idleing, the throttle shaft is never seated on the idle screw(over an 1/8" away). Just after starting it, it (throttle shaft on the carb) progresively throttles itself up until it hits the rev-limiter, I can manually bring it back to idle and it just repeats this over and over. Now, I haven't done anything but back the governer clamp off until the shaft moves freely and this happens. We did this to a friend CARRYALL and nothing like this happened. Help please.
