1204 controller, half-speed forward full speed reverse
New 1991 ezgo with 1204 controller has issues. What can be done to reverse this condition without swapping wires on the F/R or S1 and S2 on the motor?
This controller does not have the 4th wire (orange) to unplug as the 1205 does. Another thread mentions swapping the 2 wires on the F/R but that the handle position is reversed. Thank you. |

I was hoping that might work but wanted confirmation from an expert first.
Thank you for the response. Dennis |

Re: 1204 controller, half-speed forward full speed reverse
Swapped the leads S1 and S2 at the motor but handle positions are reversed as I suspected they would be. Also the buzzer is annoying!
Thank you or your input anyway. What actually controls the 1/2 speed reverse mode on the 1204? Would reversing the 2-pin connector on the controller have any affect? Dennis |

If your Marathon has a pot-box type throttle, disconnect the two wires between the pot-box and the F/R assembly to get rid of the 1/2 speed. What happens is that a microswitch on the F/R places a 5K fixed resistor in parallel with the 0-5K pot, so the controller only sees 0-2.5K rather than the normal 0-5K. |

Thank you for the explanation regarding the pot box. Just what I wanted! I did return the S1 and S2 to their original positions so I will leave the A1 and A2 alone. I will disconnect the 2 wires between the pot-box and the F/R assembly to get rid of the 1/2 reverse speed to simplify matters. Evidently the micro is defective? I'm really not interested in 1/2 speed! Thanks again for the explanation, Dennis |

Re: 1204 controller, half-speed forward full speed reverse
After all that, the micro is ok, I reconnected it and 1/2 speed reverse, removed it and full speed reverse just as it was explained by JB. Don't know what the real problem was but it was way torquey/speedy in reverse, and now it is working as it should! May be an intermittent problem.
Thank you Dennis |
